Upstream from this dam is the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant which sits along the Kakhovka reservoir

Water levels behind the dam were at a 30 year high

Dams like Nova Kakhovka are protected under the rules of war and the Geneva convention

Apparently Russia's withdrawal last year from the right bank of the Dnieper has now saved tens of thousands of Russian troops, who would now be cut off from supplies due to flooding
