I can see stores in California switching to a ticket system where you buy the item then bring your receipt to fulfillment to pick up your item much like how we used to buy videogames at Toys R US in the 90's
It's all part of their sick planned progression. Eventually all physical stores close up and go online only. So then, when there are no actual shops for shoplifters to legally steal from anymore... Adams in NYC is already laying the groundwork for this with his hints at mandatory 'home-sharing' with a certain group of people.
