You can also get filters for your shower head. I bought one and the difference is staggering!

I use what's called a 2"x10" ro filter with a canister. Can be had for about 30 bucks maybe? I would have a plumber install it just after your main shutoff. Then you just shut it off to change the cartridge periodically. Can be bought at Lowes or home depot, or amazon

Also note, if you have a detachable shower head, these things can be put directly in line on the shower hose :)
