I can think of one or two. The southernmost forests of Quebec are predominantly maple trees, but there's also a substantial coniferous-dominant region to the north. Coniferous needles produce toxic smoke due to the high concentration of terpenes.
Either maple syrup is going to get price gouged, or we can expect to eventually see large volumes of toxic smoke being blown down into New England by the winter trough winds.
