I've seen at least six suggested meanings for the gold fringe

I've never seen any convincing evidence that gold fringe on a flag is anything other than decoration. If anyone has proof, I'd like to check it out, thanx

Common sense says if it meant the horrible things that people suggest, then you can bet super-American arch-patriot Donald Trump would never have let those things adorn his stage. It's too easy to get fringe-free flags.

He'd have to either be OK with it, i.e., he's IN ON the evil; or not know about the hidden meaning. Neither of those is credible IMHO.
