Yes, sadly the whole thing has the feel of the Kari Lake gubernatorial race. It was apparent that the Deep State and the cartels could not let Kari Lake win, the knew she had the numbers but they just didn't need to care anymore and so they cheated in the most obvious, most egregious fashion.
