Yes, that's important. Scripture is the Word, given so that we can grow our hearts to unite with him more and more in a tangible relationship. And yes, the Holy Spirit guides us on that journey of building the relationship.

As long as we recognize that my understanding of what scripture is teaching is fallible and may need to develop, change and grow, then that openness keeps the way to build the relationship open too.
