I don't think this is funny at all...taking the Lord's name in vain...RFK was talking about a serious subject and splicing the two together looks stupid...many, many, many years ago I learned a lot from Alex Jones...things are different now I understand but at one time he did talk about things that no one else was talking about.
This of course is only my opinion and I do get it will probably be a minority opinion...
I didn't get the "don't take the Lord's name in vain" thing until way too late in life, so I don't judge those who still do. But I do cringe and try to avoid them when I find them. If you are in the minority I'm right there with you :-).
I have a problem with this, and one of the many reasons I couldn't stand being around religious people.
That's not taking the Lords name invain. Congress who've sworn oaths in God's name have taken the Lords name in vain and do so every day.
Asking God to damn something is not taking the Lords name invain. It's using it spuriously at best.
Saying God damn when I hit my finger with a hammer is most definitely spurious, and nonsensical. What am I asking God to damn? My finger, the nail, or the hammer? Yes Mr Hammer, spend all eternity in hellfire cause I'm a twat that can't aim.
Alex Jones saying God damn because he's been endlessly mocked and had his career damaged because he was actually right about something cause he (or his staff) read peer reviewed journal articles that documented it and the entire global media mockingbird establishment attacked him. Oh I think he's pretty spot on that those people deserve to be damned by God.
Okay...I hear your distinction...but I don't have to agree...God is big enough to defend himself...he knows right from wrong...
BUT...the context of it in the video is ALL wrong...he is saying that to RFK Jr. who is talking about a serious subject and is an honorable servant of the people...the WHOLE THING is NOT FUNNY...
I would add that God is not a name in the same sense: Archibald is a name.
It is a nomer known to many cultures. Even your holy book says: there are many Gods.
At best, this is an invocation of a vain nature, as it expresses the lack of power. One could wish this awareness would lead to something, but even that is vain.
As your holy book expresses it in ecclesiasticus: everything is vanity.
