TBH. Ultimately what matters is ultimately what the majority people believe. Magic pieces of paper can say whatever they want. But if people continue to believe in Canada and that it exists as a legal entity. Then it exists as a legal entity. Doesn’t matter what the pieces of paper say or don’t say.
People seem to like pretending that legalese is some magical force that can force things into being or non-being. Ultimately it’s just words on paper. It’s people’s beliefs that ultimately matter.
Not to mention. Much like Science you can find and selectively interpret legalese and the multitudes of treaties and other legal documents signed by the world’s many nations over the years to mean whatever you want.
For instance. There are people who believe the Constitution is an illegitimate document and that the Articles of confederation are still the “Legal” law of the land. They can cite legalese and old treaties they claim backs their opinion as well.
Etc. So on and so forth.
Last I was aware there’s quite a few people who claim to be legitimate U.S Presidents and or other World Leaders. Each with their own claims and legalese backing why those claims are legitimate.
The Canadians for instance had some chick claiming to be “Queen of Canada” back around the Trucker Protests. She had her own story and legalese as well. Romana I think the name was.
Point being. It ultimately doesn’t matter if you can’t or don’t have public support for whatever legal narrative your trying to sell. Regardless of whatever is the “Truth” of the matter.
Well said. There are many posts bringing up nonsense about a US Corporate body and others how we are owned by the Crown based on some magic papers and if we just do some new magic words it goes away. I always want to say what you just said better.
Also, I think the magic words on magic paper also applies to the ridiculous US Debt. If at some point we refuse to pay and walk away from a chunk of it, it won't be a fraction as bad as the smart people claim. I think Trump understands that because he has walked away from debt before.
Eh. Probably could have been more succinct and to the point. True enough. But I tend towards extraneous rambling. Much to many peoples annoyance.
Truth be told most of our debt is held by U.S based people and entities. Though the popular narrative is most of it is held by foreign countries and companies. Granted you sometimes need to follow a lengthy roundabout trail. But the end point is still the same. Most of it starts and ultimately ends here.
Yep. Is Christ real? If his life or mythos makes the world better and turns the souls of wicked men from evil does it even matter? His impact on humanity is bigger than any other person. I think at that point you really have to accept that he was alive and is a real part of humanity. Even if it is the wrong answer, humans evolved as a result because they believe it to be true.
