Close enough to the Obummers they issued a statement.

Just saying, accidents happen while racing. Sabotage is possible. No mention of what he was racing/running. No mention of a sanctioned race being held there Sunday. Just a rich dude in a Porsche or Ferrari slamming into a barrier. Which are usually designed to absorb impact.

I've spent time at Woody Creek. It's a short track with enough space to get up to speed and then require hard braking. It's pretty fun in a lower powered car but the members there (it's private) all have big hp supercars. There is little space to run off and there are walls to hit. Even if you run off into the fields there are decent sized rocks to hit. Brake fade is a problem not to be messed with.
How fast can the big HP cars get going on the track?
I was running an m235 tuned to 400hp. Going into turn 1 where the wall he probably hit was it was rev limiting in third, about 110. I would guess a Mclaren (these guys don't mess with Porches) could be 130-140. Our group had a cone chicane set up on the back straight to keep speeds down. Without that they might have seen 150 there.
That's fast enough to get dead. I've got a S3 that I'm going to tune to stage 2 when I'm not spending money on other things. I don't drive it much.
