I once worked with a Russian guy who told me his history:

He could barely read aged 12 and was a lost kid: low self-esteem, rather being violent than sorry, kinda dishonnest, would-be substance abuser.

They put him in a military school.

Fast forward 15 years: the guy is exquisite, has a PHD in computer science and we worked together on an ARM port of the Kaffee JVM-clone.

You don’t need to chop some meat and bones off of somebody to make him better. You need authority, justice and intransigence.

But my point has more concrete assurety of adherence to the law than your mommy please approach.
