I guess my point is that it was so bad that even they couldn’t feign legitimacy and convict. It was just that bad. Anyway, I do agree that Mitch probably could have found another way to ban Trump. Why? My guess is that Jan 6 didn’t go off the way they hoped and they didn’t get enough of public support to pull it off without major backlash. Obviously I don’t know, but that’s my guess. 1/6 was not the calamitous violent eruption they were hoping for.
