Cities of Refuge
41 Then Moses set aside three cities east of the Jordan, 42 to which anyone who had killed a person could flee if they had unintentionally killed a neighbor without malice aforethought. They could flee into one of these cities and save their life. 43 The cities were these: Bezer in the wilderness plateau, for the Reubenites; Ramoth in Gilead, for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.

To me, these verses point to God's mercy. It shows that His judgment understands far more than we can even fathom, because of His nature, His abilities to be Allknowing and truly just, with perfect justice. Again, He searches the heart and examines the mind, and knows His own. Then He sets aside a place for them to live. How merciful is our God.
Our merciful Father, thank You for Your divine understanding and justice and mercy. Thank You that You forgive. Let us be honest in our failings, and let us repent sincerely. Draw us back to You. Thank You for the promise You gave us that You have a place for us. Help us rest in that peace You give to us. Thank You for true freedom. In Jesus' name, Amen.
