Official turnout numbers were reported as 66.8% of citizens, which is around 155 million. This post seems to be taking 69% (a number I cannot find on any official counts) of the number of registered voters, 168 million, which gets to the 115 million count.
So this person is an idiot or trying to mislead you intentionally.
The guy definitely makes an erroneous calculation, one that President Trump and his team would easily catch. So why retruth it? Is it because the Census Bureau data is claiming 91.7% of registered voters turned out? That doesn’t seem plausible at all, and the only turnout percentage that matters is registered voters.
Caught these two statements in the Crnsus Bureau report:
Despite COVID-19 concerns, 155 million people turned out for the 2020 presidential election. However, 4% (552,500) of registered nonvoters reported not voting due to their concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.
The most common reason for not voting among registered nonvoters was they were not interested in the election (17.6%). Other reasons included not liking the candidates or campaign issues, being too busy and forgetting to vote.
This means at least 21.6% of registered voters did not vote. I say at least because we are not given a value for the other reasons listed in the second statement. So 78.4% or 131,955 million registered voters voted. Deducting President Trump’s 74 million leaves Biden with 57,955 million registered voters.
So the OP on Truth is wrong in the numbers he used, but if we dig deeper into the Census Bureau report, it still supports the conclusion Joe Biden did not receive 81 million registered, legal votes. He received roughly 58 million.
This is using the wrong numbers.
