The Arkansas ‘pipe’ has a long record of producing gem quality stones. They run a disk plow over it periodically, but people are allowed to dig little pits into it harvesting stones. Assiduous searching apparently provides some long time prospectors with a more or less meager subsistence income.

Much luck to you on extraction of gems from matrix. I can’t advise on methodology. Some sort of industrial grade process seems indicated.
