LOL. Generally speaking, I'm pretty skeptical about the symbolism stuff. Or rather, skeptical about the way that people understand it and what they make of it.
Yes, I know that symbols are powerful things (from one perspective, they both capture and generate energy). I know that they can be used for both good or ill. I believe that in certain secret societies and occult-practicing groups, many symbols have a special meaning.
But I also believe that not every instance of a particular symbol means what the occultists means, and that some people use them as a part of culture not necessarily with the same infusion of energy and belief as the occultists.
With a symbol, the PURPOSE of their creation and use are key and critical. Occult symbols even more so.
I also think that the 666 symbol is really over-done by a lot of people, who look for and think that ANY manifestation of symbolism is <bad> <good> regardless of who is using it.
But with this one, from a design perspective, an aesthetic perspective, the 666 is very much there, or rather, there are clear visual images that involve three 6 shapes.
We can argue whether the presence of that 666 is meaningful or not, whether it is intentional or not, we can even argue what it really means in this case, but from a graphical standpoint, visually, it's certainly there.
If its meant to be a stylized @ mark, well, firstly, it isn't. (The @ mark curves with an enclosing circle first forward and then up, in an anti-clockwise direction, with an 'a" in the center.)
If it is meant to be a designed derived from the @ mark, well, that's certainly plausible. Sometimes designs are derived from something in order to trigger a response, unconsciously, because it unconsciously reminds you of a thing... (oops. that's what SYMBOLS are often used for).
In this case, it bears some similarity to aspects of the @. So, if that is 'threads' big story, narrative, well, maybe its plausible.
Nonetheless, the sixes are very clearly there, visually, but in an obscured manner, which disguises them and makes them less than overt. Coincidence? Hmmmm.....
Personally, I can identify two 6-6-6 shapes.
From my viewpoint, the first and primary image is found as follows:
There is the first 6-shape - the encircling part. There is another 6-shape reversed, in the center. A third 6 shape is found in the negative space, the black in this case, between the first 6-shape (the outer) and the third 6-shape (the inner).
It's a positive-negative-inverted positive dynamic, presented in static visual form.
The movement from positive to negative to an inverted positive -- whew, that's a very powerful and dare I say, occultic dynamic.
If someone actually wanted to infuse this with symbolic meaning, its certainly rife with potential.
The second image is found as described by this graphic. IN this representation, its all positives (shapes created by the single positive line). However, its almost a spiral motion. The second 6-shape is translated from the first larger shape, by being revolved by 90 degrees. The third one is then revolved again 90 degrees, but flipped.
I don't know how much I would make out of this, but dismissing the possibility out of hand because it doesn't agree with your biases about the topic isn't really being objective.
Visually, it's very much there. As someone with a smattering of graphic design and visual design experience, it's bleeding obvious to me.
Where I am skeptical is that I really wonder if the occultists would use 666 that much. Gladly, I don't know enough about occult practices to really say much about the matter. As I said before, I'm also skeptical because I think a certain amount of symbolism is used like controlled opposition: it is used to trigger and activate people, make them react and thereby lay a foundation for debunking and disbelief, like Alex Jones with this over-the-top behavior.
The occultic uses would generally be more subtle, I think, than a blatant 666, whose meaning is actually seeded from the Bible. Can anyone else think of an 'occult' symbol that is seeded from the Holy Bible? I cannot. Off the top of my head.
Rather, I suspect that modern Hollywood has made a BIG deal of good old '666' in order to drive Christians and the Christian cultural sphere into a fear-based, sensationalist frenzy, and thereby actually divert attention from the grounded and powerful message and meaning in scripture.
Movies like "The Omen" and so forth. Designed to trigger emotions, and make believers focus on symbolic things rather than on the substance.
Jesus used metaphor, symbolism and parables for important reason. Scripture, particularly the New Testament, is rife with symbols: fire, water, tongues, wind, trees, stars, moon and sun, so on and so forth. But these are symbols, meant to help us realize a deeper truth that couldn't be overtly expressed when scripture was written, because of the level of intellect and knowledge at the time.
Fire, for example. If a believer took the symbolism of fire literally, they might think that the whole world was going to go up in flames, and that they should look for fire when Christ returns, etc, as a marker. But many times, Jesus talks about truth using the symbol of fire.
So if one focuses on the symbol as literal, one misses the point entirely. So it behooves the Cabal and indeed the Enemy (Satan) to get believers to get caught up in the symbolism rather than realizing the deeper, more tangible truth behind them. Hollywood would most certainly play to that, because Christians triggered are less believable to unbelievers, and are less able to manifest the truth in their own lives. But its practicing the truth, and embodying it, that ultimately are the best testimony and the most convincing in the long run.
