These are people who continue to exist only because we believe in things like Jesus' teachings. It is only our morals, values, and belief in civilized behavior which prevents some of us from ruthlessly removing threats like these from society with extreme speed and efficiency. If we succumbed to what he's got on his shirt and started behaving according to our base impulses, this man would meet his idol much sooner than he could imagine.
These people are never smart enough to appreciate what they're doing when they poke the grizzly bear.
Interesting how you call this guy a threat and at the same time Jesus weak.
This guy is the threat you claim because of the belief Jesus is weak is a better analogy.
Read the KJV Bible. Not the watered down one.
This doesn't say Jesus is weak. It says His teachings about being meek (which originally meant "restrained and disciplined" as in the training of warhorses) and suppressing an urge to baseless violence were effective. And the KJV has its own euphemisms and mistranslations. If you want the purest version you'd better study Aramaic, Hebrew, and Koine Greek.
Yes, meek is not what lost people believe it is. I am in no part saying I know more than anyone else. I know enough to be able to understand others might be more knowledgeable. :)
We need a new word.
I like how in the King James Bible it says kill instead of murder in "thou shalt not kill".
I guess the King James is watered down compared to the modern versions that say murder.
Interesting.
When I read that I think of being meek. See, when one is attacking another and the other defends himself. The attacker is killing himself.
The meek inherit the earth for a purpose.
But then murder would be the appropriate word, would it not? Seeing as it allows for killing in self-defense. And sure, in a more philosophical sense, the attacker may have killed himself by attacking you, but in a literal sense, killing him in self-defense means you killed him.
Also, is meekness not exactly what the guy above described?
I certainly see where you are coming from, though, and actually quite appreciate your interpretation of the word kill as used in the King James. It's one aspect of the King James I didn't really know how to reconcile, as I consider the King James to be the best we currently have, but to me the word kill always seemed to be mistranslated. You definitely lay out a good view on how the word can fit and be accurate.
