I understand the movie was originally under 20th century, when Disney bought 20th the shelved the movie for 5 yrs. Don't know how it finally got out of their closet
And now ask the logical next question:
Why would Disney, which has owned the company that owned the rights to this film since before this movie was even filmed, decide after 5 years to be like "We were just messing with you for 5 years, we'll sell you the rights to the movie now"?
I swear critical thinking goes right out the window the moment we want to believe something.
"A Disney spokesperson told Newsweek an international deal for the film's distribution had already been done prior to its acquisition of 21st Century Fox. "
If an international distribution deal had been signed before Disney even acquired 21st Century Fox how is that consistent with your claim Disney tried to prevent its release?
"Harmon and Monteverde's accounts of wrestling the rights to the movie back off Disney are true"
And if that is in fact true I ask my original question, if Disney didn't want it released why did they let the rights to it go to people who want to release it?
I heard reports that said they deliberately held back releasing this film for nearly two years! Gee, I wonder why?

Sorry, I'm not following here. From your article:
