Scripture plainly states that the anti-christ will reign, there is nothing man can do to alter that. God's word can not be voided or overthrown, the anti-christ will reign for a brief period. Nothing can stop, or delay that.

Daniel, Ezekiel and Revelation share numerous parallel passages/verses.
Throughout these passages in Daniel it is repeatedly emphasized that the things related to the antichrist occur at appointed times. These appointed times, set by God, cannot be altered. They cannot be hastened and they cannot be delayed.

There have been multiple anti-christ forerunners like Nero, Julian the Apostate, Genghis Kahn, Napoleon, Stalin etc. and they seem to get worse and worse as time goes on. We'll probably have several more before we get to THE anti-christ.
