I actually overheard this conversation between two professors. One had just submitted a research paper that had been rejected.

Prof 1 : Why did they reject my paper?

Prof 2: Because they didn't like your conclusions.

Prof 1: Well if they'd just told me what conclusion they wanted, I'd have written that.
