I remember back in maybe '72 one of the smart kids I walked to school with telling us that the reason there was no vaccine for the common cold was because the virus that caused it changed too fast.

Later I learned that a corona virus causes the common cold.

Latter I learned that the expert were going to make a vaccine for Co[rona]Vid-19.

Then I learned that viruses are made up tools of manipulation, and everything I know just went out the window.
