Why can’t people go straight to God in confession?

This is my biggest beef with modern catholicism. Not near enough one-on-one with God. Substituting priests, saints, etc. for what should be taken directly to God, is worshipping false idols for the majority of modern catholics.

I’m not saying this 100% the intent of the modern catholic church, it may very well be, but my conclusions above are based on conversations with many modern catholics. I have yet to meet one that can talk their way into me accepting this practice. And I’m married to one…

I pray everyday for the truth to change their hearts.
