You only need to read through the entire Bible, and especially the New Testament, to know that the Catholic church is based on distortion of scripture, and more significantly, the desire of men to be in positions of power. God is the power, Jesus is the way. No works, rituals, etc., will result in your salvation; only faith in Christ.
And Mary’s perpetual virginity, and made the sign of the cross and kept many other sacraments. IIRC roughly in the 50’s is when the denominations started to further fracture
The post reformation was already beginning to coalesce back into one faith because the similarities were so profound and the reformation was largely accepted as having been occurred.
Then some people decided we couldn’t have one church…
What I found interesting is that Martin Luther STILL believed, after his posting of the 95 theses, that the bread and wine became the ACTUAL body and blood of Christ during communion. The fact that Jesus held bread and wine during the last supper, and said "take, and eat, this is my body, this is my blood" makes it clear that He was referring to the figurative nature of the communion elements. Jesus spoke in parables, so why Catholics think he was being literal in that situation seems pretty odd.
Now that I am aware of what the upper echelons of the catholic church are up to, right along side the global cabal, their illogical interpretation only stands for cannibalism, as far as I’m concerned. The thought of literally eating the flesh and blood of Christ, is straight from satan’s playbook. That’s a satanic ritual.
Christ didn’t literally rip his flesh off and pour out his blood for his disciples to eat and drink, it says so right in the Bible.
It couldn’t be more simple to understand, yet folks continue to argue it. Blows my mind!!
That’s crazy to me because many times when people read the entire Bible they realize the Catholic Church is the one true faith and many conversions occur.
And you’re wrong, you are not saved on faith alone. You must never sin. Catholics who study their faith know this and work tirelessly to overcome vice to receive graces that make overcoming sin so much easier. The church was founded by Jesus and his apostles were the first priests. If you consider yourself Christian your ancestors were practicing Catholics. If you have a sin you can’t shake, go to confession and soon you’ll get sick of confessing it all the time and you quit it. I don’t understand the beef with confession either. People don’t sit there and examine their consciousness and make themselves confront their sins. They say they do but the don’t.
I fell away for a decade or more years. The Great Awakening brought me back to God and I started investigating spiritual warfare since this fight is spiritual in nature. If you have a demonic presence in your home, you call a priest. Your Protestant pastor can’t do shit, in fact lay people can make the problem worse. Exorcist priests are well versed on how to eradicate evil afflictions. Exorcism is real and Christ himself cast out many demons. Priests cast out demons in his name and only Christ can cast them out through them. The priests aren’t doing it, Christ is, the priest is his tool. Deliverance only occurs through ordained priest, it’s a fact, if you deny this you’re ill informed.
Plus logically who do the Satanists attack the most? Catholics. They mirror the Catholic mass with their black masses. They have satanic high priests. Tabernacles have locks because Satanists steal the consecrated hosts for evil purposes. You only need to know who the enemy hates the most to see who you should align yourself with.
I could list Eucharistic miracles and Marian apparitions as proof. Look into a well documented miracle at Fatima. Do it.
It’s crazy people will believe in supernatural evil events but that God doesn’t perform miracles anymore. They happen you just won’t hear of them for a reason.
Where did you get the idea that "you must never sin"? I have never heard that, and certainly I haven't read that in the Bible. Perhaps you are conflating writings of Popes with the Bible. That's like conflating writings of Confucious with the Bible.
And concerning people reading the Bible and "realizing the Catholic Church is the one true faith". You kind of highlighted the problem right there in calling the Catholic Church a faith. And I think the number of Protestants who convert to being a Catholic is on par with the number of Republicans who convert to Democrats; a rare happening.
John 8
[10] When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
[11] She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Perhaps the stats do show people leaving Catholicism. But isn’t it a greater leap to convert to Catholicism? The ones who do, questioned Catholicism and once they explore it to try and refute it they realize its true nature and that it has the best tools to get to Heaven.
There you go "best tools to get to Heaven". That pretty much says it all! There are no "tools" to get to Heaven! Wake up! Read your Bible! Jesus is the only way to Heaven! Wow! I had no idea how lost many Catholics are until reading your post!
Why can’t people go straight to God in confession?
This is my biggest beef with modern catholicism. Not near enough one-on-one with God. Substituting priests, saints, etc. for what should be taken directly to God, is worshipping false idols for the majority of modern catholics.
I’m not saying this 100% the intent of the modern catholic church, it may very well be, but my conclusions above are based on conversations with many modern catholics. I have yet to meet one that can talk their way into me accepting this practice. And I’m married to one…
I pray everyday for the truth to change their hearts.
I was born and raised Roman Catholic. I love my family and I know they mean well.
In my studies, I've deduced the church of Thyatira in Revelation to represent the Roman Catholics. Revelation 2:19 is the text book definition of a devout Catholic.
Revelation 2:18-29
18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
19 I knowthy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.
20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.
22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.
25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come.
26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
28 And I will give him the morning star.
29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
These verses give me great comfort, because they inform me the Roman Catholics who faithfully follow what they're taught and do not know the depths of Satan will be forgiven.
I'm assuming that is the verse regarding works. But James is referring to works done as a result of faith, not as a guilty obligation or requirement to ensure their faith is actually going to provide salvation. The sum total of the New Testament can't be any clearer on the fact that salvation comes from faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, so that nobody can claim that they "earned" salvation; it is a gift of God.
"As a body without spirit is dead, so to is faith without works dead" or something to that effect.
The notion that works of faith would "earn" anything is a new one to me as I always assumed the two worked hand in hand - true faith influences every aspect of life resulting in works of faith.
Though it seems I misinterpreted the nature of your original comment as "faith does not require works."
Yes, it is salvation that does not require works, but as James said, if you have been saved, your salvation will be apparent by your works. What works a Christian should do is the hard thing to know.
Your spirit if made new in Christ bears the fruits(works) of such. Think of all the parables that Christ used in things that bear fruit and those that don’t. You will know the tree by its fruits … etc.
This scripture isn’t telling us anything anymore profound than what Christ has already stated. No idea why some Christians get so upset over this one line of scripture when in fact most that have accepted Christ and rejected the flesh already exhibit the merits of this scripture.
Catholics use ONE VERSE, taken out of context, to justify the ENTIRE CATHOLIC CHURCH! The verse is Matthew 16:18
"And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it". Peter was expressing his faith in Jesus as the Christ. It was Peter's faith that Jesus was referring to when saying "on this rock". Numerous verses refer to faith as being the basis of salvation, not works. The Catholic church stresses works and adherence to rituals; rituals instituted by the Catholic church. The Old Testament is a long account of how rituals ("The Law") were a stumbling block to salvation of the Jews. Jesus came to fulfil the Law for all humans, resulting in no ritual, no work, NOTHING but the blood of Jesus, as the payment for our sins. So many Catholics experience the true freedom of Christ when they walk away from the Catholic church, and embrace the church of Jesus. I'm not saying that there are not saved Christians in the Catholic church, but it is clear the Catholic church is an example of how Satan can corrupt. Satan knows that he can't win, but tries numerous ways to hinder Christianity. What better way to hinder than to promote various aberrations of Christianity in the world; Catholicism, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, to name three. And the Protestant churches are not free of this, with many denominations caving to the ways of the world, accepting such abominations as "Gay marriage" among other things.
so how do you think the Catholic church misinterpreted 'on this rock?'
Occam's razor suggests Peter was in fact the rock, since Peter means rock.
I don't believe Catholics practice idolatry or ritual magic. Its all based on faith in God.
Of course that's not a defense of the official catholic church in recent years, which has become as infiltrated as any other public organization. all denominations of Christianity have been targeted for infiltration. ...and have always talked shit about each other anyways. i'm not sold yet.
Because "on this rock" is referring to the faith of Peter. Jesus called Peter ("rock"), because of his faith. The Christian church (fellowship of all Christians) is based on Jesus, not Peter or any other man. How does it magnify Christ to have the Catholic church include so many rituals and works? Does praying to Mary in Heaven glorify God? The Catholic church only allowed people to actually read the Bible very recently. It is so utterly clear, if you read through the Bible, that the Catholic church is so wrong on so many things. U.S. Treasury agents don't learn what counterfeit currency looks like. They only study real U.S. currency so that it is ingrained in their minds so indelibly that they IMMEDIATELY recognize when they are handling counterfeit bills. If you become familiar with the Bible enough, you IMMEDIATELY recognize false teaching, whether by the Catholic church, or any Protestant denomination or church. If you are a Christian, I encourage you to read through the entire Bible, and then see if what I am saying is not true. If you are not a Christian, the Bible may not make too much sense, so reading through the New Testament is a good start, but until you accept Jesus as your Savior, even reading the New Testament may not make sense. With Christianity, first you believe, then you see.
Jesus also told Simon Peter to "Get behind me, Satan," in that very same chapter of Matthew, when Peter suggested they shouldn't allow Jesus' sacrifice to manifest.
Christ restored our ability to have a right relationship with God. Our failings in that were the only reason the Israelites set up a monarchy in the first place. To believe that God needs an earthly monarchy in order to organize His Kingdom would be to say that God is incapable of reaching us personally.
The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
Yeshua (AKA Jesus), the master of parables, is comparing the pebble Cephas to Himself. the chief corner stone.
Matthew 21:42
Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
The rock is Jesus, not Peter. Paul agrees -
Ephesians 2:20
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
And so does Peter!
1 Peter 2:1-10
2 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Too bad they don't preach what is in it. Seriously, you can't read through the Bible and NOT see how much is wrong with the Catholic church. I always thought it was funny that when Catholics are asked, "What religion are you?", they'll say "I'm Catholic", but if a Protestant is asked what religion they are, they say, "I'm Christian".
Did you know that until the reformation all christians believed in the real presence in the Eucharist?
And Mary’s perpetual virginity, and made the sign of the cross and kept many other sacraments. IIRC roughly in the 50’s is when the denominations started to further fracture
The post reformation was already beginning to coalesce back into one faith because the similarities were so profound and the reformation was largely accepted as having been occurred.
Then some people decided we couldn’t have one church…
King Henry was even awarded "Defender of the Faith" for his position on the Eucharist
All Christians were originally Catholic.
I prefer to say something more like.... the apostles and early christians shared the beliefs of today's practicing catholics.
I know of many who didn't both before and after the Reformation and their throats were slit because of it.
They were deemed to be heretics and there were entire villages which were slaughtered in the name of the Bread God.
I mean, they were by definition heretics lol, not saying killing them was right but they definitely were.
Hebrews 10:12
But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
No need for further sacrifices, and that's not a heretical statement, but rather a Biblical statement.
What I found interesting is that Martin Luther STILL believed, after his posting of the 95 theses, that the bread and wine became the ACTUAL body and blood of Christ during communion. I point this out all the time.

A person can be saved on their deathbed by accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord, Saviour, and Redeemer. That's all it takes.
As you say, works of faith are not required. I highly recommend to all to not push that scenario though :).
Works of faith are just that...you do these things because of your faith, not to gain credibility.
where's the distortion?
