I had read (but can't confirm) that the Coast Guard (the premier search & rescue outfit in the US) was not involved in the actual search. Can anyone confirm whether that's true? If true that's an enormous red flag. BTW I'm a retired Coast Guard Commander and so I have an interest in this aspect.
