Nobody was killed and I believe if injuries at Phizer they were minor. This tornado wasn't predicted by the local news stations. It popped up in a thunderstorm moving across the eastern part of NC. We normally get more tornadoes in the spring and occasionally in the fall. I heard they had a tornado warning and took shelter in designated areas. I'm not far from the area hit by tornadoes today. We are hearing information from people we know that work there. This was an EF3 tornado. I happened to check the radar and saw the tornado. It was headed for my location and turned at the last minute. I was ready to get in the closet. We pay 8-10 dollars a year to get severe weather alerts calls from a TV station in Raleigh, that includes three phone numbers.
The part that was damaged was a 13 story storage area for drugs. They don't have power. Eighteen wheelers were thrown around and into the power lines. It will be interesting to see if they rebuild or close. This location has been running a skeleton crew for years.
