They CAN look and sound like a bomb if the tornado passes directly above a structure creating an extreme low-pressure pocket around it. From my 20+ years experience as a weather-spotter in my younger years.
The low external pressure means the pressure inside the house is sufficient to burst the house. Atmospheric pressure (100%) is about one ton per square foot. If the tornado produced an environment of only half normal air pressure, a 10-square foot of wall panel would be subjected to 5 tons (10,000 pounds) of force. Don't disdain the forces of nature.
