I think that’s the point of the precipice, when things get so bad that you really have no choice, or anything to lose and you can make the changes that are needed.
It should be clarified that the sacrifice of ‘prosperity’ is temporary. IMO it will be more of a sacrifice of security, or innocence. Knowing that the world we’ve lived in is gone and will never be back. It will be traumatic for most.
The good thing is that we’re so weighed down by debt, government regulation, and corruption right now, that the sky is the limit if we can fix these things. Trump gave us a glimpse of this when he eased regulations on energy production. In three years the sector had brought the US back to energy independence. Imagine the economic boom if you could take the foot off the neck of the entire country.
