I don't believe he chose Pence as his running mate. The establishment Republicans were dead set against allowing Trump to be the nominee, and they force Pence on him, or he wasn't going to be the nominee.

Up until Jan. 2021, I thought Pence was a good guy. He seemed to be loyal to Trump and America, but it was all for naught. What a disappointment.
