X is for cancelling or forbidding. Best case it means the NWO or elite powers. Worst case it is for humanity. I'm leaning towards X meaning a cancellation of the elite.

Isn't it also used for selecting? As in a candidate on a ballot?

Usually that is fill-in-the-box or a check mark. Sometimes it means 'here' as in 'you are here' or 'treasure located here.'
