It's not an exact copy, but resembles it in pattern for the two main elements - two fingers (well, thumb and finger) held parallel to each other and at an angle like the leg and arm of the logo/profile picture. I would imagine that, as someone who knows sign language, you're looking at it more "literally", so to speak, in that you have to be more precise when communicating with signing. Your mind is trained to look at sign language more critically.
