Two reasons: Trump initiated his right to a speedy trial. It has to happen in a short timeframe or it is a mistrial and if there were to be a delay, Trump would have to sign a waiver of his right to a speedy trial and he isn't going to do that. Also, the prosecutor said he is going to hold the trial quickly, they want it before the election.
