Disembodied spirit, imo, particularly that of the nephilim pre flood, byproduct of cohabitation - not given the spirit of a man nor the spirit of the sons of God reproduced with. Nor given the same destiny post body, but requiring external influence to empower and enable (blood/body things we too need but are provided by God).
