I left insurance to sell cars. I can assure you they are nowhere near ready for all electric fleets. There’s an EV Hummer sitting in the back, can’t sell it, they blow up.
Homeowners insurance skyrockets when you install a charger in your home. Most carriers won’t allow roof panels in my state, cases of those catching fire from too much sun exposure 🤦🏻♀️.
Now, everyone’s auto insurance raised to cover the loss of these EV’s. All the parts are 2/3/4 times the cost to replace. Looking into the insurance industry, they’re pulling out of states left and right, no longer writing business and killing the competitive market.
Unrelated to EVs but related to insurance, look to the health and life insurance companies. They are the covid canary’s in the coal mine.
I purchased a few year old, used PHEV to use a commute car so I could cut down on the amount of gas taxes I pay this Commie state.
The insurance for that car is double the cost of basically the same car, but traditional gas that I also own.
meh, I live in commie state, I pay $150/month on top tier full coverage (500k/500k) of my Tesla model X EV. I have a newer Benz that the equivalent coverage is about the same or a tad higher.
What state?
And why would you own a Tesla?
Mr Handshake.
Because those rates are nowhere near what it costs in this Commie state. Try four times more.
the most expensive commie state. I own a Tesla because I pay zero in gas and electricity and I have a solar system with sun 365 days a year, AND I can blow away anything off the line without even trying AND it fucking drives me around like having a personal chafeur. Nobody is out to kill me, by taking over my car, so I don't gaf. I also own a corvette and 2 other ICE vehicles. I prefer the Tesla all day every day (just nowhere further than 350 miles roundtrip)
