Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I believe the church needs to play a more active role in helping create a positive future they became reactive rather then forward thinking. They have members yet only a select feel they have purpose. Prayer Garden wants to utilize technology and create almost a parallel network in which people can connect and be part of the church. I believe that connection will lead to more people seeking to return to the church as well as discovering new purpose for those that felt left out before. I believe we need to learn to have discussions more and that no topic should be left out. The church almost became timid and it's time we change that. We seek to organize but not in that over the top way rather a way that lifts all the body up. Yes there is a simplicity in Christ however that simplicity also begins to unlock all sorts of things that seemed complex before, such as the power of the mind, power of words and sounds and other things
I'm all in favor of multiple means of communicating. The "personal connection" feeling is what makes a community, not to mention that when living in a world where there are active organizations trying to take you out, e.g. the FBI against the Catholic Church, it helps with situational awareness. Feeling a personal connection with God is often mentioned as a draw to those who convert to Christianity, not other religions so much. How to turn online camaraderie into a personal connection with God is the step that I can't comment on, as I think that comes from grace. But it seems like a good goal in itself to have a place where people can feel accepted, even the unhappy ones.
Good stuff I agree with you fren. Thanks for your input I truly appreciate it. God bless.
