What are people's thoughts on Issue 1 failing? Does this have the potential to boomerang?

My understanding is Issue 1 would have required a supermajority of 60% or more to amend the State Constitution. Currently it takes a simple majority.

My belief is whomever placed it on the ballot in a special election did so to make sure it failed. That way they could act like they wanted the higher bar, knowing all along special election turnout doesn’t favor conservatives.
