Notice how little the level of reserves changes (pink) vs treasuries (blue) and “currency in circulation.” (Green) Especially 1968-2007. Why?... Loan -> deposit -> sell deposit -> ad nauseam.
We however are left thinking they loan us currency, where in reality we loan them because we create.
There are two way to create currency. And these two ways are interlocked. The end result is always the same: rising debt levels.
