As US Attorney for Delaware, Weiss could not prosecute crimes committed outside his jurisdiction without the permission and cooperation of the US Attorney where the crimes were committed. The US Attorneys from California and Washington DC refused that permission and cooperation and the serious crimes were committed in those jurisdictions. He may find some other reason to not prosecute but as a Special Counsel he will have jurisdiction to prosecute crimes by or related to Hunter regardless of where committed. Garland has now shifted the heat from himself and the other US Attorneys directly to Weiss. We will see how he responds, possibly as soon as the next hearing with the Delaware Judge.
