on the surface this sounds bad...an attempt to protect Bidens and others in that orbit. Hunter wouldn't have been able to plead the 5th if his plea deal was accepted. while that likely would have prevented Hunter from charges, it would have made the big fish/guy ripe for charges using Hunters subpoena testimony. because of this going to trial many unwilling subpoenaed witnesses will use the "cannot discuss an ongoing investigation/case" excuse and stymie the comer and any other efforts. or so it seems
