Solar, wind, and water turbines. Probably in that order. There are water energy companies already here just not mainstream. Wind turbines are very controversial here but HECO puts them up anyway and usually generates a protest. Solar/PV is the fastest growing and most reasonable. 2 panels for your water heater are required now per house.

We have an old grid here. There is so much wind and sun here to create micro-grids but still tons of people depend on the power lines.
