Rubber ignites at 600-700 degrees, but burns much, much hotter ( over 2000 degrees )

So I've been around a fire like this once in S Florida. It was in late 90's and brush was super dry. Cigarettes started it and it crossed asphalt roads, but it was the trees and brush that kept the fire going, not the structures. Lots of houses got damaged, but I don't really remember anything like Maui, Paradise Cali
