Willing to at least try to reduce the amount of fluoride ingested in my local area, as well as setting up more counter-measures in case there are disruptions in water treatment and supply. What are your opinion on those clay and soapstone filters, and the ones that aim to kill germs with UV-light exposure ?

I use zero water pitchers and it removes fluoride...you also usually get a ppm tester with the container...we are pleased with that for all drinking water...
I had a reverse osmosis system hooked up to our kitchen faucet but it leaked and flooded part of the basement...so we are happy with the zero water...which we have at every sink...more economical by far...but the filters are expensive...
