Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
5 mins. No responses. I'm so disappointed.
But, besides that, anyone got some good home remedies for gout? Not for me, a buddy has it.
I have found that just being sufficiently hydrated keeps me from getting it. I eat meat and bread and even seafood occasionally, and still haven't had a problem.
Diet first. No red meat, no beer or brewed products (like soy sauce), no yeast bread.
Go online for a list of gout trigger foods.
I use colchicine when I feel an attack starting. See a competent physician and get a scrip for it. It’s been used for centuries but unfortunately, a “patent pirate” paid to do clinical studies on it and then patented it, raising the price astronomically. On the other hand, it’s safe and effective. It does have interactions with certain blood pressure and heart meds but that is controllable.
The key is diet.
I have written on this many times, as I suffered extensively with gout for years, and kept following all the recommended guidelines and never got anywhere.
Here is what I did:
Cut off all processed sugars. Period. (You can still use honey for cooking, or for tea etc)
Reduce carb intake as much as you can
Reduce red meat intake, only when you are actively suffering with an attack. Rest of the times eating it moderately is okay.
Space out between your last meal and next day first meal as much as you can - 16 to 18 hours ideally, but at least 14 hours.
Now for the most important part: pH control
Drink a glass of water, with generous amounts of lime/lemon squeezed in, and mix 1/4 tsp of baking soda. Let it bubble up nicely, and then drink it (its delicious as well). Do it once or twice a day depending on how acidic your body is.
You can mix some tart cherry juice in this - it is very good for gout and arthritis as it suppsoedly dissolves the crystals in your joints, but it also makes the drink taste fantastic.
I started reducing my uric acid levels as I started this process, after 5 years of gout attacks, and the doctor told me that I was lucky and he has no idea why its getting better. I mentioned all I did, and he said "Nah, that cant be it. It must be something we dont know. Just lucky"
I started watching Barbara O'Brien you tubes on healing our body, she's does one on polstices, and talks about gout, the healing properties of herbs, onion, potato & caster oil.
Thats the Aussi lady right?
Yes, i like her.... I have success with my own polstices even, I used grated ginger for foot pain, and a few others I have shared her info with reported relief too!
Dammit I thought I would be the first one this time.
FINALLY! Someone being disappointed!
I was disappointed, that there weren’t enough people here disappointed anymore.
Wew … thanks for pulling through! 😂🤣👏👏🤣😂
