Just checked the radar. Looks like it’ll make landfall as a sloppy, rainy mess. No closed circulation, and somewhere near 998 millibars, which is less than a cat 1. It’ll be windy and rainy. I would bet there’ll be flooding and road closures. I would get extra canned goods, pets food, water, flashlights, etc. now. Get your laundry done now. Vacuum your house now. Do any maintenance that requires electricity now. If that sounds dumb, imagine how happy you’ll be that you cleaned up before you lost power for 2 weeks. Full up your gas tank. Charge up your phone and all other battery-operated items. Prepare to lose power, including your fridge full of food. Scrub out your bathtub and fill it full of water. If you can get sandbags, get them, in the event that water may enter your house. When it’s all over, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ago outside to have a look around. That’s how people get electrocuted. Don’t stroll through standing water for the same reason. Don’t have a “hurricane party” and get drunk as it’s approaching, because you want to stay alert and keep your wits about you in case things go sideways. If you’re a woman, give yourself a pretty short manicure, because it’s really difficult to lift, carry, drag, etc. large/bulky/heavy objects with long claws. Godspeed and good luck. We’re all counting on you.
