Maui fire victims reported numerous and continuous explosions and structures 'exploding' in flames. Old buildings that install smart meters are at significant risk to power surges without total replacement of old wiring in the structure >> that is Lahaina. Very old buildings, old wiring.
All smart meters are on the Cloud and can be remotely controlled and hacked. A brush fire does not guarantee total destruction of structures, smart meters do. Basically one chance to get it right, if the goal is complete destruction and chasing off and/or liquidating the inhabitants. Light the fuse of a brush fire and ignite the smart meters and turn off the water. Blame downed powerlines and incompetence.

Despite denials, smart meters have a documented history of catching fire, exploding and causing voltage surges that start house fires and destroy appliances and electronics:

After years and protest and agreements, Hawaiian Electric broke a promise of 'opt out' regarding smart meters and mandatory replacement was completed on Maui, earlier this year.
Vanguard and BlackRock own controlling shares in Hawaiian Electric at a combined 20%.

Another proposed Smart City location, another devastating FIRE.
Kelowna Residents fought Smart Meter installation for almost a decade. They Lost. Smart Meters have been installed throughout Okanagan and Kelowna:

I recently researched the fire risk of LiFePO4 powerwalls at the request of an anon.
The LiFePO4 chemistry is safer so the risk of fire is low but never zero.
The powerwall should be in close proximity to only non-combustible materials. This goes both ways. You want to avoid an externally started fire from spreading to the powerwall.
Since the new smart meters are made of plastic instead of metal and glass like the old meters, the same should apply. 1 lb of flaming plastic on the wall of a house can probably catch it. Can fire retardants be added to the plastic or are they too conductive? Did these houses have plastic siding?
A lot of the surge issues sound like a floating neutral problem. Instead of balanced 120-120, you would have 150-90. Copper thieves sometimes steal just the neutral to avoid getting shocked.
A sustained overvoltage is an evil way to destroy a house. The MOVs in surge suppressors will trigger every cycle and rapidly heat up. As will older devices with transformers or motors.
