I notice some people are deliberately omitting the fact that these symbols were also used by the Rurikids who were rulers of Russia. Particularly, the coat of arms of Ukraine closely resembles the crest of Vladimir the Great.
Omission is lying, and it is exactly how Mainstream Media deceives people.
You are confusing Rus with Russia. A group from Rus broke away and travelled east and were called Moskovites from Rus, later named Russia. The original Rus didnt want affiliation with the new Russians so they renamed Ukraina which means country on the edge of (Europe and Asia) and made Keiv their capital.
The trident is the word for freedom imposed in that symbol. Vladimir was King of Keivan Rus which makes sense that the tryzub would be part of his crest. Vladimir and Olga baptized their nation into Catholicism in 988.
The original Rus didnt want affiliation with the new Russians so they renamed Ukraina
The name "Ukraine" was not widespread until the end of the 19th century. Before that they were still called Rus', Ruthenia, Malaya Rus' (Little Rus') etc.

They were never catholics. They were Chalcedonians.

Thanks for sharing that clarification
Many times omission is done to deceive.
