Yea, I would suspect as much. I created a new account soon after Elon bought Twitter just to get a feel on the alleged "free speech" stance. Had some fun shit posting, but I never became part of the "Elon-is-our-saviour" camp. I don't like his neural link work, much less his EV Tesla company, much less Starlink, etc. Just suspicious from the get-go and I wouldn't be surprised if Twitter/X isn't actually a honeypot for gleaning the I.D.s of conservative accounts. But ever since the WEF initiate Yaccarino was named CEO, I've noticed some disturbing trends, such as an inundation of liberal propagandists showing up in my "For You" feed. I had no idea there were even so many. It was like a Media Matters army. That's when I decided to close my account -- about a week or so prior to the most recent announcement. Regardless, I wasn't ever going to pay $8 a month to be part of the Twitter world and I've not once been tempted to peek at my account. I can find out what I need to know elsewhere.
I deactivated my account and logged out on all my devices and removed the app. My account is still not deleted after 3 months. So don't bet on it.
