Not vaxxed, smoked like a chimney out of boredom both times I was sick with COVID-19. Hardly noticeable reduced oxygen uptake, otherwise like a regular flu for me. Borderline walk in the park.
I think there is something to it.
edit:
Borderline walk in the park compared to hospital, intubation and dying.
Interesting. Like I mentioned before, maybe the cigarettes cause cancer campaign may have been a cover for something else. Like air pollution. Or vaccines. I know the fluoride scam has slightly awakened some of my liberal co-workers to the possibility that $cience narratives are not always beneficial. I'm lucky in that my county water is not fluoridated. I still use a reverse osmosis filter on my faucet.
Yeah, the chemicals and weaponized nicotine in over-the-counter cigs are really bad for you. Most likely that may be the reason for some cancers. I know some good people who grow their own tobacco near Otto, NC. They dry and cure it and smoke it in organic papers. They claim they can go for days or weeks without smoking if need be as their tobacco is not as addictive as the modified stuff sold by the corporations.
If you make your own vape juice (i.e. don't buy the crap from China) you can control your nicotine and don't have to hope the pre-made stuff is not laden with extra chemicals. It also makes it easy to slowly taper your nicotine instead of being stuck on whatever the vape shop sells.
I get my (food-grade) VG from Amazon (1 gal bottle), and the flavoring and nicotine from The Vape Mall. I don't use PG - gives me a headache. It is easy to make - there are e-juice apps.
That should help your wife to relax if you can show her it is WAY cheaper, you know what you are getting, and you are tapering your nicotine.
And it does help w/COVID. I saw an article a year or 2 ago that said some doctor or hospital in France noticed that smokers were not having nearly the amount of respiratory symptoms that non-smokers were in the heat of the COVID outbreak. It made no sense because you would think that smokers would be worse off so they did a study.

Maybe, but I have no doubt cigarettes can cause cancer. They are full of bad chemicals, both before and during actually smoking the cigarette.

Good luck.
