He is exceptionally blunt. He will not sugarcoat the truth to appease anyone’s sensitivities. After decades of politicians politely telling us comfortable lies, having someone bluntly tell us the uncomfortable truth was a culture shock.

And he is merciless towards his enemies. He revels in the art of giving his opponents nicknames that 1) immediately stick and go viral, and 2) torpedo what was left of their political aspirations. To those who are used to the polite lies and “gentlemanly” debates of the past, it’s off putting. To everyone else who likes a good scrap, it’s intoxicating.
