In pursuit of my continued unpopularity, I offer this interesting fact-checking article that appears to kill off the "Blue Roof" theory pretty conclusively: blue-roofed houses did in fact burn down, and at least one red-roofed house survived. No conspiracy based on roof color. I should think we would all just say "Okay, whatever," and go on to more productive pursuits. How would you possibly confirm "space lasers"? Nobody has been working on them since the 1980s, when it turned out they were enormous and had a shelf life. Or did you mean something else?

Dude, wut? China blasted a dead satellites out the sky with a laser several years ago. I call that a space laser.
The satellite they destroyed was with a kinetic energy weapon, not a laser. They have separately been testing lasers as a weapon against satellite sensors (too much intensity in the optics will burn out the focal plane array).
The red roof was metal. A rarity. Another saving factor for that house was that the owners had cleared all the brush around it. Otherwise it was a 100 y.o. wood house and could have burned. On the other hand, all the downtown part was crammed together so it was doomed once the first part caught fire.
This is where the back-pedaling begins. Some red things didn't burn. Some blue things did burn. Color meant nothing. Clearing brush and wetting down works wonders. Living in the other 99% of the island was the best option.

I'm saying those smart meters might do more than measure your energy use.. they are already known to transmit data, how difficult would it be for them to act as targeting beacons?
