Sigh, these "journalists" never cite the actual paper, let alone link it. I have to go on a snipe hunt looking for it. They don't even name the lead author or the corresponding author. They just refer to "the researchers." DailyMail is a tabloid, often barely rising above garbage like TGP or RealRawNews. =/

Anyone who has studied basic chemistry knows that there are 3 phases of matter: solid, liquid, and gas. We think of these as rigidly separate, but it's not. Water, for example, is partially in gaseous form even at room temperature. We call this humidity. At the molecular level, some part of the water molecules in the area are bouncing back and forth between liquid and gaseous state at a constant level that maintains this humidity. That's true of many things. It's why car interiors have that "new car smell" and so does the rain. Volatile compounds find their way into the gas state and we can smell them.
What these researchers found is that the plastic fibers in the KN94 (similar to the N-95s we have in the US) always have some organic solvent molecules that remain on them from the manufacturing process. That's just how organic chemistry works. These volatilize (become gaseous) at a low level, just like paint or gasoline fumes. Accordingly, they can be harmful if you breathe too much for too long. And if you wear them in hot environments, you get more volatiles.
These guys found that 2 masks (disposable surgical) produced "unsafe" levels according to German indoor air quality standards. According to US NIOSH chemical safety standards, they were all 100-1000x lower than thresholds linked to that long list of organ damage and cancer risks.
For me, the take-away is that no one wears these for just 30 minutes. They're asked to wear them for hours every day. Worn properly so they work for their intended purpose as a filter, they also maximize how much of these volatiles you're breathing in. We're trading one low risk for another and adding a side of discomfort and wallet pain for the privilege. That's a bad trade-off.
The experts' defense is this: "It is indeed possible that certain masks have side effects, just as certain helpful medications (anti-histamines, psychotropic drugs, antibiotics) have side effects."
Leaving out that so-called side effect are actually direct effects of the "medicine." Most of which contain petroleum derived chemicals that are acknowledged to be hazardous to human health.
This is another cover story for the massive die off that has started up. I know of several people in our small community who have died in the last year and a half or so. This summer has been even worse. We’re averaging over a funeral per month.
Does that mean you think they are going to blame the masks for what are really vaccine deaths? Might be worth something, but probably not a particularly effective cover-up.
Yes, won't be the first time they give up a ruse to advance a more important one. Maybe something like, masks don't really work, and in fact can kill you, but that virus is real, and you definitely need a vaccine to keep it at bay.

Yes. That’s exactly what I meant. They have to come up with something to explain all of the deaths.

Exactly.
